About School

An invitation from our Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Isidore Ferandes was extended to Sr. Mariette C.J., then the provincial superior of the Prayagraj, Sr. Salesia C.J., the Ex-Provincial, Fr. K.K. Anthony, the Director of Nazareth Hospital, Fr. Raymond D'Souza, Director of D.D.W.S., Sr. Freda, the outing going animator of Maria Seva Sadan Taraon, Sr. Christina C.J., the newly appointed animator, Sr. Aniceta, the Manager of Bal Vikas Ashram, and Sr. Daya, the Social worker to come and evaluate the progress and problems of the B.V.A. and to discuss the future plans for that mission. The appointed day and date was 3rd April 2007 at 10.00 am at the Bishop's House. All time who were invited, were present that day. After a long discussion, a part of the agenda was closed.

The next item was the opening of an English Medium School in Taraon. There were oppositions on starting such a school in a village set up. Since it was the request of the parents, the Bishop was strong on starting it in the midst of objections, Because, Children are so the modus operandi was discussed Sr. Christina was appointed to see to the setting up of the school while the Bishop would finance it. At the word "Go Christina started the ball rolling in full swing. She with Sr. Aniceta did the first shopping for the school. From day one sister was the first shopping for the school. From day one sister was fully involved in getting the school premises cleaned, interior furnished and the other accessories ordered such as the invertor, computer etc.

1st May sister found the first recruit for the school Mrs. Chanda who had worked with the sisters at Ghoorpur, Allahabad. She joined as a part time worker. The school work was steadily progressing under the supervision of the pioneer member and first Principal of St. Mary's School, Taraon, Sr. Christina C.J.

Registration to school was held on two days, on 15th and 16th of June and admissions were on 18th of June, 2007. The classes ready were for LKG, UKG and Class-1. All in all 75 children were enrolled to start with. It was a good beginning indeed.
